Robert Saleh calls Jets offense “dog s…’ in quarterback Zach Wilson downplays struggles in the loss to Patriots

The Jets entered into Sunday’s game against their fellow Patriots with the distinction of being among the NFL’s 10 most offensive teams, but they were unable to compete with their low standard at New England. With just 103 yards with six first-downs and a single scoring game, New York fell to 6-4 following its 10-3 loss in the 11th week of the season. In the aftermath, when asked about the lack of ability to the quarterback Zach Wilson and the offense to take advantage of the “outstanding” outing from the defense coach Robert Saleh was profanely direct: “It was dog shit,” said Saleh to reporters.

Wilson particularly produced one of the most ineffective performances this season, which is a bit surprising considering that the 2021 first-round pick came into on Sunday as one of the NFL’s worst quarterbacks. Wilson’s QB only completed 9-22 for 75 yards and averaged 3.5 yards per pass which included zero touchdowns, and a close-to-interception on an important third down. The Jets eventually finished by kicking more times (10) than Wilson had completed passes. In addition, the signal-caller has thrown 4 TDs along with five picks over seven games.

Wilson did not, however, seem to be too concerned about the Jets’ lack of offensive vigor following Sunday’s defeat in the playoffs to the Patriots. If asked if he felt that he allowed New York’s defense slip when the unit was able to concede only 3 points (New England’s sole TD was scored from Special Teams), Wilson replied swiftly and snidely to reporters with a grin while saying: “No.”

The rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson offered his own view that seemed to agree with his coach.

“This isn’t okay. In the end, it’s not right”, the first-round player declared. “How many yards did we manage to get (103)? This shit isn’t going to fly. We’ve got the guys. It’s time for us to be steady. It’s time for us to win the games that we’re supposed to win.”

The Jets are set to make it happen in Week 12 when they play the Bears (3-8) that lost against the Falcons on Sunday.
