Tupac Shakur & Yo-yo

What people don’t know about Tupac is that he was a wonderful person and all that stuff in the public was not the real Tupac.”

The hip-hop artist and Madonna were introduced by Rosie Perez at the Soul Train Awards in 1993 and started seeing one another. The “California Love” rapper started off the note by stating that he waited a long time to contact her because he “was struggling to find all the answers” before explaining why he ended things.

About Madonna, Tupac made her feel like a gangsta, at least that’s what she told David Letterman. She dropped the F-Bomb on live TV because as she says, “[Tupac] had got me all riled up about life in general.” It doesn’t sound like the easiest relationship.

The couple attended the Soul Train Awards together in 1993 — but 15 years after his death Rosie made it clear she was close to Tupac but they were just friends.

“We weren’t romantically involved,” she tells XXL. “I’m grown now, and if it was true I’d say, ‘yeah, we did it.’ Those are rumors, 100%. That’s misogyny in hip-hop — women can’t be friends with guys, apparently.”

She continued, “This guy I was supposed to go with to the Music Awards bailed out on me at the last minute… He was like, ‘F–k this motherf–ker. Let me go up in there with you. Come on.’ He said, ‘Let’s go together. And, let’s hold hands and let that motherf–ker see you on the screen. F–k him. Watch how crazy I am.’”
